Renewing your Emirates ID card
Once your ID card expired, you have only 30 days from the expiry date. After the 30 days, a late fine fee of AED 20/day will apply, with maximum AED 1000.
It is necessary to renew your card after expiry; Federal Authority for Identity Citizenship will send an alert via SMS, requesting you to renew your ID card.
You can provide your biometric details at any FAIC’s medical center or service centers.
Replacing damaged, lost or stolen Emirates ID card
You must keep your Emirates ID card very safe, but by any chance, if you lost your ID card, or been damaged or stolen, you must request a replacement of ID card from FAIC. Follow these steps for replacing the ID card;
Visit the nearest ICA Customer Happiness Centre and repot first so they can deactivate at their soonest.
After reporting, ask ICA for a copy of your lost ID or the unique ID number confirmation. If your card has damaged, bring it along with you to the ICA center.
You must also bring the identification paper to prove your identity and that it belongs to you.
- UAE nationals need to bring a valid passport along with the family book.
- GCC nationals need to provide proof of their residency in UAE
- Expatriate residents must present a valid passport that stamped with a residency permit.
- If the lost report is for children under 15, parents must provide the birth certificate along with passport size photo having a white background.
You need to pay AED 300 for the replacement of ID card, in addition, AED40, if you are applying online on the ICA website or AED 70 if you are applying via typing center.
The fees are the same to all the UAE, GCC nationals, or expatriate residents.
You also have an option of express service for ID replacement at ICA Customer Happiness Center with extra AED 150.
You will get an SMS from ICA about the Emirates ID status, expected date of delivery. It issued within 48 hours from the request of replacement. If you applied via express service, you would get your ID card within 24 hours.
How to update personal details on Emirates ID?
If you want to update or change the details of the card, you must report to the concerned department in ICA within a month from the date of the change.
To modify any details of an existing ID card, you must visit any of the ICA centers along with an original passport and the Emirates ID card. Remember, you need to present in person because you cannot update the details online.
Canceling your Emirates ID card
